In all my Jefferson craze here in Washington, D.C. I am tempted to download the Thomas Jefferson and Sally Hemings book. But I've had it with impossible love stories.

Tooth Ache
Sitting at my desk all inspired and ready to write the first brilliant sentence of the day, when I'm distracted by some sort of machine running upstairs which sounds a lot like a dentist's drill. And now my tooth hurts.

Favorite book
"I love 'The Awakening,' because I think there is nothing lovelier than walking into the water and never returning.
"But, it's a suicide," I replied."

So thank you
Sometimes I feel so itchy, like everything underneath my skin is too large and I need to run or stretch it out. Then I think of a hand--yours--on my back and I convince myself into calm.

Keys that Jangle
The neighbor is leaving again at 10:47 p.m. as I hear his keys jangle when he locks the door behind him.
I pretend he is you leaving to come see me every time.

Unrequited
Her hands are not large enough to play the piano. Still, a girl can dream.
